March 14, 2015For over five years, Just Cause 2 Mods has provided the Just Cause 2 modding community with a fantastic resource designed to accommodate both modders and players by providing forums, tutorials, news, and a massive library of mods. Recently, the developers of Just Cause 3 revealed that they will be supporting the game’s modding community, despite the fact that they won’t be able to provide official tools. Because of this exciting announcement, we’ve decided to expand our modding network. We also felt that it was a good time to upgrade, as the old website was running on very outdated software. To celebrate the arrival of our new and improved modding network, here’s a list of the top 10 Just Cause 2 mods of all time. This list is based on the popularity of mods (downloads, forum posts, ratings) during Q4 of 2014, and is also based on the subjective opinion of the writer. No mods from outside of our modding resource have been included (eg.

Ho boy, can of worms you've opened here. There are fans on either side, and each game can be divided into three categories: Gameplay, World, and Stability.Gameplay: JC3 wins this one, as Rico feels more fluid with his wingsuit and parachute combo than in JC2. All of his actions and stunts feel like they're from a movie, and wingsuiting just right gives off a warm tingle like a perfect drift in a racing game. Some people complained about the cars being crap in JC3 (I agree), but they were also fairly crappy in JC2, so that's a draw. The grappling hook (and tether system) is far superior in JC3, and having unlimited explosives is just common sense.World: Just Cause 2 is the hands-down winner here.

Although Avalanche advertised that 3 is the same map size as 2, 3 has less landmass and has only one type of climate. The climate changes of Panau in 2, while kinda unrealistic, was amazingly fun to play in. Also, there were more settlements to destroy in 2 than in 3.Stability: Can't verify on console, but JC2 definitely wins in performance and overall stability. In the hundreds of hours I played on JC2, there were only a handful of CTD's that I can remember, versus the countless ones I got from JC3. JC3 is a little bit prettier graphics-wise, but is much more demanding on the hardware.Overall, I prefer JC3 to JC2, but I enjoy going back to Panau and wreaking havoc every now and then.

I generally agree with you, just one comment:Some people complained about the cars being crap in JC3 (I agree), but they were also fairly crappy in JC2, so that's a draw.I think cars felt a bit better in JC2 than JC3, but not that much better. However, motorbikes were amazingly fun to ride in JC2, both how they felt to drive (especially cougars felt amazing), and how you could ride a bike up to the side of a car and stunt jump to the roof of a car.

In JC3, they feel kind of crappy to drive, crashing the bike doesn't feel like it's your fault but rather the fault of sluggish controls, and you can't stunt jump over to other bikes or cars. They also don't feel as fast in JC3 as they do in JC2. The car handling is WAY better than in JC2.

I can write a paragraph detailing why cars in just cause 2 are ridiculous but you'll most likely get bored of reading it. Of course, JC3 car handling is not perfect, in fact, it does feel slippery and weird sometimes, but at least on roads most of the cars handle well and the buggy is fun to drive offroad. In JC3 you can also drive fast on small roads with a lot of turns and still stay on the road (something you can't do in JC2. You can only ride sportscars fast on highways and airstrips). The bikes are crap for sure but overall, with nitrous and turbo jump, driving in JC3 is a lot better and more fun than in JC2.I miss some of the gameplay features from JC2 though. Particularly the stunt jump from car to car, the automatic retraction of the grapple when you dual tether a person to something(it's way more difficult to make people hang over the edge in JC3 because the ledges are in the way when retracting tethers) and air propulsion gun. There are TONS of improvements from JC2 not including the popular ones (more tethers, infinite c4). I would spend another 30 minutes just listing them all.World: It seems like I'm the only one who disagrees on this.

Sure, Panau is nice and beautiful and way bigger than Medici but it is bland. The bases are almost exactly the same and everything is very similar except for the different biomes. Medici is extremely beautiful.

When I first got to the big island, I spent 23 minutes on wingsuit just gliding around, watching the scenery. I don't know if it's just me but it really reminds me of my travels to Mediterranean.

Medici has caves and a lot of verticality going on. The world feels alive. The civilians are doing something like playing music. They respond to the things happening in Medici. They recognize you.Of course Panau is beautiful too, even with worse graphics. And it felt huge, unlike Medici.

I also miss wandering around trying to find hidden chaos objects to get dat sweet 99.95% completion. It felt frustrating but also rewarding, it felt like looking for a needle in a heystackI'd describe both games as fluid but in a different way. Just Cause 3 is extremely responsive to what you want Rico to do regardless of the state he's in.

Like, you can attach a tether to someone and look around and walk until you find a place to stick another end of the grapple to. You can freely walk on vehicles.

You can grapple yourself to something above of you, fall face up and other stuff I'm not going to bother you with.Just Cause 2 is also fluid but in a closed system kind of way. You can learn to use the grapple and parachute in a way that you climb very fast even though it looks unnatural. You can always shoot your grapple even if it's aimed at the sky. It's a lot more simple than JC3 which is a good thing in a way.Overall, Just Cause 3 is way better but it has some setbacks such as performance issues (which is very important) and bike handling. Just Cause 2 is a great game though.I might be a bit biased though, because like 1000 hours overall in JC2 and it got really, really old and I just got JC3 recently.

You have the collectibles, but personally I think it's kinda boring to go from collectible to collectible, so I never finished that. After you completed you can do challenges such as car racing or, of course, blowing as much stuff as fast as possible up.

As for the main game, there are indeed story missions, but it's not what you'll be mainly doing. Mostly you will be liberating bases and towns, which is very fun.

Every once in a while you get a story mission which is still basically the same as liberating bases (Go to location X, blow this up, kill enemies). After you finished you can unliberate settlements in which case the enemies have taken over again and you can start reliberating them.
