Menards.com2 months ago I started a simple 12x20 deck project, to my concern about previous menards encounters my wife talked me into going back to purchase the Ultra deck Fusion decking and railing system. Needless to say I still am not done with the deck, for starters we special order the decking and can no do it over the phone with a credit card, so I have to drive 50 miles to pay for it. Second it was a delivery date of 7 days which turned into 21/2 weeks and then to top it off the railing system was wrong. Reordered and had to wait, by now my deck stringers are all twisted from drying out. Finally get to installing the hand railing and find out that I got Fcked again, they did not give me the correct handrail insert, I had to go to the web site myself and tell the dip sit at the counter what I needed, Thanks Menards for all the Headache and wasted gas to and from, I WILL NOT BE BACK AGAIN. Your the problem. I work at a menards.

You cant expect the guy who sold it to you to know that the item would be wrong. We sell thousands and thousands of items, you cannot know everything about every item. Im sure you got ### with someone about the order time. Most likely a receiving team member, how would it be there fault.

If it took longer than expected its not the stores fault its the vendors. The reason for not taking credit cards over the phone is due to high rates of credit card theft and abuse. I don't know what you might consider 'a simple 12 x 20 deck project' based on the information you provided, but it sounds like you started the 'project' before you had all the materials.

Rule of thumb; over compensate on the materials you will be using, its better to be safe than SORRY. Besides you can always return the leftovers to Menards. I currently work at Menards as a recieving/lumber yard team member. We handle all of the lumber and decking as well as the special orders. However, we only recieve them. The employees at the building materials desk place the orders. I encounter customers (or guests as Menards would like us to call them) who have or have had problems with their special orders.

Like the comment says before me, it is most likely the vendors fault. It is possible there may have been some miscommunication between you and the building materials associate upon ordering the item, but we have no control over the order or when it will get there. So the next time you have a complaint.

Make sure its with the right company. I have been with Menards for 8 years and i have never known them not to take a credit card over the phone. There is alot of information that we need, things that someone with a stolen credit card would not know. On the special order contract it says ESTIMATED DATE OF ARRIVAL. With the emphasis on ESTIMATED. You come into Menards and expect to have everything handed to you. Well guess what it is not their deck it is yours!

They are there to make sure that you get everything that you want and need. They are not there to tell you what color or what size or how amazing it may be when it is done. They are there to help you make your project as easy and affordable as possible while still giving you great value. Menards has professional estimaters there 5 days a week. All you have to do is give them your blue prints and what you would like it to be constructed of and they will do the rest. Do they sometimes make mistakes yes. That tends to happen in everyones lives.

Wow is all I have to say. Great job taking ownership blaming a botched order or delivery on a vendor YOU chose to hire. Menards would have your censor if it knew you were online representing thier business on a complaint board defending a mistake that was made. In good business you take the hit and assume the responsibility if there was a mistake. Regardless of whether you outsourced to another company. Sure this guy got 'censor' (real professional) with someone. That is also 'how it is' in the industry you are in.

Try working for a call center. Then again please don't. Have fun hating your jobs until you get real ones.

I used this product on my frony and back decks a few years ago. I had to put 5 coats on to get the colour right and it took forever to dry between costs. I even checked in with Customer Service as I went, sent photos, discussed issues etc.

I was assured it would look great when finished and would stay looking great for a long while. It looked reasonable, but not great, for a couple of months, then started to rub off in traffic areas, it turns black when it rains (and I used the silver fir colour), the areas in full sun and rain are pretty much bare timber now and look dreadful. Not to mention that despite being told it was suitable around a pool, it was so incredibly slippery, i had to buy an anti slip product to go over the top - more expense.I know I did all of the prep property as I was checking in with customer service from the day i had the timber sanded to remove an old (and much better product), I purchased the products they recommended, applied them as instructed and checked with them constantly before each next stage. I did all of this checking as my husband was skeptical that this was a good product and would give the result we wanted so i was determined to get it right. Now, I have to pay the extremely expensive sanders to come and get this rubbish off my decks and start again with a better product. I will never hear the end of this as it’s money we simply can’t afford.Purchased in April 2014 at. I bought this 10L Intergrain UltraDeck from Bunnings based on staff recommendations. I was told i do not need to apply every 12 months.

So the extra cost of paint is justified given the savings in time and paint. I applied in February 2018 with 3 coating after Merbau deck was sanded in dry weather. In June 2018, i found the oil on the deck was not water resistant. The water penetrated through the oil to the Merbau timber and caused the timber to swell. That caused serious cropping problems for many decking timber without shelter above.I rang Dulux (the company who manufactures Intergrain brand) and was told by a gentleman called name removed to send an email about the matter.

I did on June 24 with a detailed recount of the issues and requested an investigation by Dulux. No response was received from Dulux (not even confirmation about the receipt of email) and i made a follow up phone call on August 15. It was confirmed by name removed email has been received and will send me a response. Surprisingly, there was no response received ever since.I have lodged a case with Consumer Affairs Victoria.I was very disappointed by with the arrogant style of customer service by Dulux regarding product quality issue. The responsiveness and customer service attitude of this big corporate is far worse than any other companies i am aware of. The premium pricing i paid for is a waste! The way they dealt with customer is a big joke! I do not even want to give them one star here!Purchased at: Bunnings Warehouse.

Hi Dinah,Sorry to hear you are unhappy with the colour, it would be possible to remove the coating by sanding or using Intergrain Timber Stripper and begin again with a colour you prefer (we recommend Intergrain UltraDeck in the Spotted Gum colour as it is designed especially for bringing out the natural colours of the spotted gum timber). You can try either sanding back the surface to bare and starting again or you can put a third coat of Intergrain UltraDeck on in Spotted Gum colour to tone down the orange colour. Once the coating has weathered over the next year or two, the colour will fade and you can just apply maintenance coats in the spotted gum colour. Whichever way you go, best to do a test patch before applying to the whole deck so that you can be sure you will be happy with the colour. The Intergrain Team Thank you very much for your advice.

We will try a tester and see how we go. If that doesn't work, we will leave it to weather for a while as suggested. Thanks againDinah. I'm very seprized reading alot of the reviews on here with people having had experiences with this product.I had a badly weathered and scratched kwila deck.I used the reviva cleaner on it and sanded deck to remove scratches. After a good dust down I put on 3 coats of ultradeck with a day in between coat. I think Lot of people could be using to to much product which is leading to all the tacky decks.keep it thin!Been on two years now and we have extreme heat and cold where we are and still looking great.will probably look at recoat in a years time.Cheaper than sikkens (which I have on garage door) and seems to be lasting just as well even with all the foot traffic on deck. Have just had my decks oiled with this product. I had the decorators in and they used this oil which I had never heard of before.

I trusted them to use a good product. Now my decks are ruined - after 12 days they are still tacky and every time it rains there are large yellow/orange messy patches - it looks awful. I could have done a 100% better job using the oil we usually used.

Unfortunately my husband died last year and I thought I would treat myself by getting professionals in. Someone will have to rectify this situation as it is absolutely unacceptable. This product should be removed from the shelves. I recently re-finished my exterior deck using UltraDeck and am happy with the results so far. Has resulted in a nice even colour with low sheen (I used the natural colour).I spent 2 weeks carefully preparing the deck as follows:1.

Applied a deck cleaning solution and then pressure washed with a karcher to remove grime.2. Removed as much of the original stain (poorly applied Cabbot's product in the past), with a belt sander as I could. I used 80 grit to remove material quickly and to promote better absorption of the oil.3. Sanded any remaining areas with an orbital sander/by hand using 80 grit.4. Noticed there were several areas where the previous stain had absorbed more. Went down to bunnings and got the Liquid 8 Timber Stripper from Intergrain. Applied this to the affected areas and left on for 30 minutes to take off the paint.

Resurfacing

Pressure washed off the stripper and after drying, decided to apply once more to reduce colour further. Managed to reduce the previous colour by a significant amount after 2 applications.5. Allowed the the deck to dry thoroughly for 48 hours.6.

Applied 2 coats of UltraDeck, making sure to limit lap marks by applying the oil in long, continuous stroke with the lamb wool applicator. Any obvious lap marks I was able to blend carefully with the use of a paint brush. As mentioned, so far, so good. I am very happy with the colour and feels like a good quality finish. I would probably attribute the results to a lot of time spent prepping the surface properly and careful application of the oil. We had a merbau deck built in July and were waiting until we had some nice weather before we did anything to it. To make sure the wood was properly weathered we used Powerprep, followed by Reviva. Both were easy to use and did as exactly as the instructions said they would.

Powerprep darkened the wood and reviva lightened it up again.Once the deck was dry, we did our first coat of Ultradeck in Natural color. It went on easily and clean up was a breeze. We left the deck for 24 hours and did our second coat.

Again all went well. We did get quite a bit of rain 24 hours after the second coat and although our deck has a roof, some of the deck and stairs did get wet. There was some patchiness in these areas but as soon as the deck dried they disappeared. We would like to do another coat this weekend and wondered if we need to use Reviva again? There are also a few rough spots where the timber fibre is raised that need a light sand.So far we are very happy with this product! I was recommended Intergrain by the guy who built the deck, it also came up quite well in some 'unbiased' reviews online. I am not sure what has happened with this product in the last 3 years but I am pretty sure the price has gone up around 50% and the quality has gone down by the same amount! The first time we used it (3 coats on new timber) it lasted around 12 months and was pretty easy to recoat, just cleaned it up with Reviva and put 3 more coats on.

Menards ultradeck

The next time the was slightly more difficult with it showing signs of lifting/flaking, again after 12 months. Last week, again after only 6 months of having re-coated the deck, there were areas of bare wood exposed and for the first time Reviva was not sufficient and I had to use a pressure washer. There was bad flaking and the pressure washer removed most of the coating, this was only the case in the part of the deck that is constantly in the sun/rain etc. I have read the tin a number of times and nowhere does it say Intergrain Ultradeck is not suitable for wood exposed to the elements, I might add that the part of the deck exposed to the elements always got 2 extra coats. So after pressure washing, using Reviva etc and recoating, the deck actually came up OK, unless you get on you knees and see all the un-evenness from the flaking, it doesn't look too bad.

However, the most annoying thing this time is that even after a week of warm weather, today I go outside (it's cold and raing ) and the parts of the deck that have water on it are going milky!! What the heck!! Long story short I will not be paying $105 for 4 litres of this rubbish again.

I might even go to the expense of stripping the deck and using an oil based coating next time. My builder completed my new 15m2 treated pine deck.

Beautiful job, so i research protective coatings & for looks & longevity pay the premium price for intergrain Ultra deck.I checked the colour boards at the display in bunnings with this product in merbau on pine & the brown it displays is what I'm after.I download off the intergrain website the spec sheets including all information, instructions & MSDS sheet.I note it says to leave treated pine 2 plus weeks to weather so leave it 4 weeks then scrub and rinse with a deck prep. I check for water beading. In short i do precisely as the instructions say.It goes on well with the lambswool applicator with no overlap marks etc.

All great except. It's bright orange.Vivid orange.I call the tech help line & am told treated pine will look orange. The spec sheets do not warn about this despite having specific details on applying to treated pine, the tin does not warn of this or say to test an area. The Bunnings display on pine is brown. The tech help line ask if i did a test strip, i tell them the test strip is their display board in Bunnings. They tell me that i can strip it off with Strip 8 & offer to give me another 4 litre can of another of their products. That's something but the Strip 8 is $42.90 / litre which equates to $643.50 as 1 litre does half a square metre. I'd need 30 litres.Doubtless I'd also need another deck scrub after I've spent hours stripping it.So all my due diligence leaves me with a massive stripping job & $650 plus out of pocket. This product may be long lasting but is totally misrepresented. If all i wanted was longevity, I'd have made the deck with blueboard. You've been warned - buy a different product for treated pine.

It's so stressful painting a deck. So many products and so many opinions. I found the best advice on places like this as you get real world feedback and you can learn from other people's mistakes. I also found the various woodworking forums priceless as you hear from the professionals who do this stuff everyday.Preparation is everything. I was recoating an existing merbau deck and i had to spend some time getting rid of the old coat. Strip (powerprep or caustic soda) and scrub a couple of times, pressurewash and reviva or oxalic. 2 weekends of prep!

I then sanded afterwards with 80grit and air hosed. Just keep stripping until all the coating is gone, sanding will help bring back the natural wood color as the oxalic will brighten it significantly. It took me weeks to choose a color as they are all either red, yellow or orange tints and I wanted brown. After heaps of test panels I ended up with 2 coats of natural and 1 last coat of merbau. Comes up a beautiful darkish brown with red tints and the grain and wood color is still visible.

Natural with any more than 2 coats starts looking yellow if your painting an existing deck. If doing 2 coats just do one of each.I used mould preventer on some areas of the deck as I could smell the mould when I was sanding. Didn't leave any residue or patches between the areas I treated.I would recommend a integrain deck brush (I think monarch make one too) for ultradeck application.

Those things are amazing. I used a lamb's wool pad last time and this thing was so much easier to use. You can get it down between the boards and gives and awesome even coat and the brush will last a few years by the look of it. $40 from Bunnings. As mentioned on here, make sure you apply plenty on the first coat, but not too much. When there's enough you'll see it start looking cloudy which goes away when it dries.

The first coat is the only coat that will soak into the wood all other coats will just be film protection. I did 2 boards at a time and went back over it quickly if it hadn't started to dry. If it lost it shine its dry, try not to touch it, you can get it on the second coat.I waited a day between coats and it was still tacky each time.

3 days after the second coat I gave it a gentle wash with reviva half strength, let it dry and applied the last coat. 2 days later is was dry and not tacky. And looked awesome!

The reviva didn't seem to do anything but I thought I'd mention it, I think it might just etch the coating slightly to accept the last coat.I did the same on my big merbau handrails but did 3 coats natural and 1 coat merbau. They look amazing.Time will tell and I'll report back in 12 months with more feedback but it looks so much better than the feast and Watson decking oil I used last time. That looked like paint and this looks almost like a clear coat.Wish there was a real clear coat for decks.integrain?:). Mine has only been down a month, but I'm still very happy with the Intergrain. Follow the intructions and you shouldn't have issues. I haven’t been happy with this product. Having had ongoing issues I do not think it really is a replacement for Sikkens.

Ronda Hi Rodee, Intergrain UltraDeck will be perfectly suitable for decking under a closed Alfresco and will provide a high satin finish. Scuff marks and dirt over time can dull the finish, we would recommend cleaning with Intergrain Reviva to clean the surface. The Intergrain Team.
